Pink
Brief
Colour can be regarded as both natural phenomenon and as social construction. Since the early Twentieth Century, the colour pink was identified with females following a marketing gender colour coding system, when pink was decided upon as the chosen colour for girls and blue for boys. However in recent years, the gender landscape has witnessed a degree of gender fluidity in our culture. This project aims to explore the perception of pink from its feminine connotations to possibilities as a gender neutral colour. It raises questions around the meanings associated with colour and invites designers to question their assumptions about pink as a feminine colour.

Solution:
Through print design and photography I created two publications. Pink through the ages was a pink leather bound accordion book. It explored the evolution of pink in regards to its connotations and trends. The other photographic and typographic publication is a contemporary insight into pink. It observes gendered objects in a pink light revealing a unique perspective of pink in the today's society
