Label Swap

Brief:

This was a project based in university regarding semiotics. The aim was to understand how signifiers attract their target markets and how they communicate socially constructed meaning. It required taking two different products and exchanging the signifiers of the two labels.

Solution:

The two products I applied this brief to was MAC blot powder and Crayola crayons. The result of the swap not only allowed the products to change target markets but it revealed how simple signifiers, such as type or colour could change the perception of a product.

Notables:

This project was displayed in the Auckland Art Gallery as part of a Label Swap exhibition on 8th October 2017.
