Skinny Refresh

Brief:

This was a branding and advertising project established by AUT. The aim was to develop a visual communication system directed at a product or service line through a refresh, rebrand or expansion. This would then be used to create an advertising campaign. Our team decided to refresh the Skinny Mobile brand as we discovered they were not reaching the full potential of their audience, specifically students, with their current branding. 

 

Solution:

Skinny's point difference is that they are the cheapest mobile and broadband service. We decided to add more illustrative components such as sketchy lines and scribbles to further implicate this and relate to students on a more humanistic level. We also altered the colour palette so that the main orange colour is bright and reflective of Skinny's friendly personality.

The advertising campaign for this project is called Skinny Sketches. People sitting at bus stops are sketched into the bus stop poster via a hidden camera and illustrator. The public are encouraged to take photos of these sketches and post them on Instagram with #skinnysketches. This places the Intagrammer into a draw to win deals with Skinny like an unlimited supply of data, free music and more.
